Edward Baker died from wounds on 30th September, 1914, while a prisoner of war in Germany but as yet there is no information as to when and where he was wounded or captured. The 4th Middlesex battalion was part of 8 Brigade, 3rd Division that arrived in France at the beginning of the war and hadf been in much of the action since then, most notably during the Battle of Mons on 23rd August.
